Carpenter Racing continues to lead the way in ultimate sportbike performance, teaming with Karl Gunter to set a new all-time speed marks for an all-motor sportbike.

Gunter’s 2005 Carpenter Racing-equipped Hayabusa ran 227.3 mph at the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) land speed racing event at the “Ohio Mile” in Wilmington, OH.  Gunter stated that the time was the fastest ever recorded for naturally-aspirated motorcycle over a mile course.

The bike was ridded by LSR veteran Zach Millholland, brother of former AMA/Dragbike SuperSport standout Chad Millholland.

A week later at a Loring Timing Association event in Maine, Gunter’s bike ran a stunning 235.7 mph in the 1.5 mile course with rookie LSR rider Colt Bateman at the controls. Bateman also recorded unofficial speeds of 230.1 mph in the mile and 208 mph in the half-mile.

The bike features Carpenter Racing’s “Gloves Off” 290+ hp, 1635 cc package with Carpenter's 4-into-1 Megaphone race exhaust system. This is the highest performance package you can get for an all-motor Hayabusa.

“We always said our 290+ package is for serious people and you can see what can be done with it in the right hands,” said Bob Carpenter.

“Without Bob Carpenter’s Engineering and design these records would not have been possible,” said Gunter.  “Bob builds the highest-horsepower, naturally-aspirated engines available and is customer service is the number one.  The best decision I made was to go to him for my engine work.”

The Hayabusa, dubbed “Greenie” is painted as a tribute to Gunter’s Kawasaki background.  Although it is naturally-aspirated, it runs in the MPS/F 1650 class which allows nitrous oxide injection.
